Partners in Sustainability

Make your firm one of the Oregon State Bar’s Partners in Sustainability!

The Oregon State Bar and the Sustainable Future Section are pleased to present the OSB Partners in Sustainability Program, which provides recognition for Oregon law offices that adopt certain practices to reduce the energy, resources, and toxic chemicals required to operate the office.  The criteria to qualify as a Partner in Sustainability are here (rev. 2018).  The related model law office sustainability policy is here (rev. 2016).

The Partners Program is open to law offices of any size.  A law firm may qualify one or more of its offices. To become a Partner, a law office must submit an application certifying compliance with the Partners Program criteria.  A firm may complete an application, using this form, and submit it at any time and join the list of the Oregon State Bar’s Partners in Sustainability.  Your self-certification is valid for the year in which it is accepted by the Section and the following year.  You will need to re-certify biennually in order to continue to be recognized as a Partner.

OSB Sustainability Partners will be recognized in the following ways:

1. Annually, the Section will list all Partners in special advertisements in the Oregon State Bar Bulletin and the Multnomah Lawyer.

2. The Section’s newsletter, The Long View, will announce the participation of the law office in the Partners Program in the next issue following entry into the Partners Program.

3. The home page of the Section’s website will list the law office as a new Partner, with a link to the office’s website, for one month after entry into the Partners Program. The law office, with a link to its website, will also be listed on the Section’s website as a Partner in Sustainability for the duration of participation.

4. The Section will provide a press release to the law office when the Section accepts the completed application. The firm may use that press release to announce its participation in the Partners Program.

5. The Section will grant the office a license permitting the office to display the Partners Program logo on the office’s website and in its communications and promotional materials for so long as the office is a Partner in the Program.
