Going paperless provides multiple benefits for lawyers and the modern law office: savings in cost, storage, and time; elevated employee morale; and an admired step on the path to sustainability. But the process of going paperless is not without potential pitfalls. This program will describe how to incorporate paperless practices in the law office, practical tips for doing so efficiently, and guidance for complying with the applicable Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct.
In a brown-bag lunch program, join three experts for a discussion on the practicalities and ethical considerations in moving to a paperless office.
Sheila M. Blackford is Practice Management Advisor for the Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund. A member of the Oregon State Bar and former sole practitioner, she provides confidential practice management assistance to Oregon attorneys. Ms. Blackford is a frequent speaker and author of articles on a variety of practice management, technology and malpractice avoidance topics.
Steven Carpenter is a Claims Attorney for the Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund. A former civil litigator, he provides confidential assistance to Oregon attorneys who have a malpractice claim or who are concerned that they may have made a mistake that will lead to a claim.
Helen M. Hierschbiel is General Counsel for the Oregon State Bar, where, among other things, she provides ethics guidance to Oregon lawyers. Her practice areas are legal ethics, government law and employment law and she is a frequent speaker and writer on legal ethics.
