Oregon Wave Energy Trust (OWET) is a nonprofit public-private partnership funded by the Oregon Innovation Council. Its mission is to support the responsible development of wave energy in Oregon. Wave energy is a key part of a comprehensive alternative energy solution for Oregon. Wave energy, having a combination of unique characteristics, is the only source of energy for which Oregon enjoys a clear competitive advantage. As a result, Oregon’s wave energy industry has the potential to provide significant economic benefits and lead North America in this industry.
This program discussed the state’s ongoing efforts to attract and build the ocean renewable energy industry in Oregon. It included the history of the state’s efforts to date, a review of the various types of ocean energy technologies, insight into some of the legal and regulatory complexities of wave energy and an overview of the state’s ongoing efforts to revise the Territorial Sea Plan to make way for the responsible development of ocean energy in Oregon.
Speaker: Jason Busch, Executive Director, Oregon Wave Energy Trust. Jason is also a member of the OSB, an experienced attorney and a graduate of University of Oregon School of Law.
