and the Sustainable Future Section

Attorney Volunteer Day with Friends of Trees

Enjoy a crisp December day of community building with Friends of Trees while helping to increase Portland’s urban tree canopy.  All ages are welcome and encouraged!

When:  Saturday, December 10, 2016, 8:45am – 12:00pm, email [email protected] to register.

Where:  Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 5329 SE Woodstock Blvd, Portland, 97206, look for the Friends of Trees signs to guide you as you get close

What to expect:  Please arrive by 8:45am to register and be assigned to a planting crew. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather: wear sturdy shoes/rubber boots (sandals are not allowed for your own safety), rain-proof layers are always great, and be prepared to get a little dirty.  Friends of Trees provides gloves, tools, and guidance–as well as breakfast snacks and hot coffee/tea to get everyone fueled up!  There’s a warm potluck lunch provided by the hosting neighborhood groups to all volunteers when the planting is complete — we hope everyone can stay for it!

Activities: We’ll be planting new street and yard trees in the Brentwood-Darlington, Woodstock, Sellwood-Westmoreland and Eastmoreland Neighborhoods in SE Portland. This will be a huge volunteer effort with as many as 350 trees planted to help improve Portland’s air quality now and for decades to come.

RSVP:  Email [email protected] to register.  Please RSVP by December 5, 2016.

The Section is planning other events, but the dates and descriptions are not confirmed at this time.  Check back soon!
